President of the Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune inaugurated the construction of the desalination plant to provide drinking water to Algerian citizens. With a production capacity of 300,000 m³/day, this new plant will ensure drinking water supply for 3 million inhabitants of Algiers, Tipaza, and Blida provinces.

This ambitious project is part of the national program that includes the construction of five desalination plants in the provinces of El Tarf (Koudiet Draouch), Bejaïa (Tighremt-Toudja), Boumerdes (Cap Djinet), Tipaza (Fouka) and Oran (Cap Blanc). Together the plants will have a capacity of 300,000 m³/day, and with an investment of around US$2.4 billion. These projects aim to ensure water security and secure the citizens’ needs for drinking water.
