Dbeibeh bans ministers from briefing press

59

The Prime Minister of the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, has given instructions to his ministers to stay away from holding conferences or meetings with media representatives. They have to seek his permission before doing so.

This was communicated to the ministers in Dbeibeh’s letter to the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Jumaa. In the letter, he pointed out that this step has been taken to obviate the occurrence of monsters sharing sensitive information with the press.  The ministers and other officials are required to share sensitive information only with their supervisory authorities. Those who breach the diktat will be made legally liable.

Libya is undergoing a traumatic phase for quite some time. The UN supported the peace deal, which should have resulted in the holding of elections being thwarted and now, two parallel governments are ruling the government. No one knows clearly where the levers of power are lying for the oil-rich country.
