Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals has announced the launch of a nationwide free fuel distribution initiative, set to begin on August 15, targeting petrol marketers, fuel dealers, manufacturers, telecom companies, aviation firms, and other large-scale fuel consumers.
In a statement released on Sunday, the company revealed that it has acquired 4,000 brand-new CNG-powered tankers to facilitate the rollout. This logistics initiative aims to transform fuel distribution across Nigeria by eliminating transportation costs, enhancing energy efficiency, and supporting economic development.
As part of a long-term strategy, the refinery is also investing in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) infrastructure, including daughter booster stations and over 100 dedicated CNG tankers, to ensure reliable nationwide delivery.
The program is designed to benefit all fuel buyers purchasing from Dangote Refinery, with a focus on reducing production costs, lowering inflation, and stimulating economic growth. The company also introduced a credit scheme: buyers purchasing at least 500,000 litres of PMS or diesel can receive an additional 500,000 litres on a two-week credit backed by a bank guarantee.
Positioning this initiative as a major milestone, the 650,000 bpd refinery emphasised its commitment to making fuel more affordable and accessible, especially in underserved and rural areas. This is expected to revive dormant petrol stations, boost employment, empower SMEs, and enhance government revenue.
Commending the federal government’s Naira-for-Crude policy for stabilising supply, the company aligned the initiative with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, framing it as a transformative move in Nigeria’s downstream and midstream oil sectors.
