Côte d’Ivoire encouraged to introduce Mandarin in schools

  • China’s ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire has conveyed that China is keen to see Côte d’Ivoire introduce Mandarin in schools. The Ambassador stated that the Chinese Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire will collaborate with relevant institutions and the Ivorian government to strive for the inclusion of Chinese language teaching in the national education system

China’s ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire has conveyed that China is keen to see Côte d’Ivoire introduce Mandarin in schools. The Ambassador stated that the Chinese Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire will collaborate with relevant institutions and the Ivorian government to strive for the inclusion of Chinese language teaching in the national education system of Côte d’Ivoire

 The Chinese Ambassador Wan Li disclosed this at a scholarship program for 133 laureates for the 2022-2023 academic year. He added that China was willing to work with Côte d’Ivoire, under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and facilitate closer exchanges between the youth of the two countries. He added that such a move will contribute to better and faster development of China-Côte d’Ivoire relations.

Côte D’Ivoire has three foreign languages included in the curriculum of junior secondary school and senior high school. These include English, German and Spanish.
