Transparency International (T.I) has ranked Rwanda as the fourth least corrupt country in Africa, behind Seychelles, Botswana, and Cape Verde. Globally, Rwanda came 54th, with a score of 51 out of 100. The 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) ranked 180 countries and territories around the world by their perceived levels of public sector corruption. The scoring scale starts from zero (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean).

Earlier in December, Rwanda Bribery Index (RBI) released by Transparency International (T.I Rwanda), identified Traffic Police, local government institutions, and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) among government institutions that are prone to corruption in 2022. The RBI, is an annual publication by T.I Rwanda that assesses the status of perceived corruption in Rwanda. It identifies Rwandan institutions and organizations vulnerable to corruption and examines the impact of corruption on service delivery in Rwanda. The anti-corruption watchdog also reported that up to 87.5 percent of Rwandans who faced corruption cases did not report them.
