In May 2021, after accumulated losses, the Mozambican government abolished the state-owned Correios de Moçambique within the ambit of restructuring the state’s business sector. The government then announced that the services provided by Correios de Moçambique would be progressively provided by the private sector

The Mozambican government has appointed the company CORRE (Correio Expresso de Moçambique) provider of the universal postal service in Mozambique, according to the resolution that Lusa had access to this Wednesday.

In May 2021, after accumulated losses, the Mozambican government abolished the state-owned Correios de Moçambique within the ambit of restructuring the state’s business sector. The government then announced that the services provided by Correios de Moçambique would be progressively provided by the private sector.

In a decree dated May 24th, the government also changed the Postal Service Licensing regulation, now stating that the Designated Operator “is the public or private operator” appointed “for the provision of reserved postal services and the universal postal service”.
