Chinese businessmen have promised to set up a plant to manufacture ceramic products in Mozambique in the district of Manhiça, in Maputo province. This was recently revealed by Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi while on a visit to Uganda on the side lines of his tour to an industrial complex in Uganda. He was on a three – day State visit at the invitation of his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni.
The future plant in Manhiça, would cater the domestic market and also the southern African regional demand. Nyusi stressed that the efforts were underway to ensure commissioning of the plant In less than 12 months.

The plant, Nyusi pointed out, would be based in Mozambique, the production would be exported to several countries across the region. Over 30 per cent of the production would be absorbed in the domestic market. Another 50 per cent would be exported to South Africa and the remaining to other countries across the region.
