Chinese Foreign Minister Visits Egypt: Set to Visit Tunisia, Togo and Ivory Coast

Minister Wang Yi kicked off his Africa tour with a stop in Cario. From January 13 to 18 he will visit Egypt, Tunisia, Togo, and Cote d’Ivoire

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry hosted his Chinese counterpart recently in Cairo (Jan. 14). Two ministers discussed cooperation and exchanged views on regional developments of common interest, said the Egyptian foreign ministry in a statement issued.

Minister Wang Yi kicked off his Africa tour with a stop in Cario. From January 13 to 18 he will visit Egypt, Tunisia, Togo, and Cote d’Ivoire. Wang called for an immediate start to the implementation of the two-state solution to open a political horizon in the Gaza Strip. The Chinese foreign minister said that both countries involved in the conflict and Palestine should reconcile their differences to bring peace to the region. He added that both China and Egypt would issue a joint statement urging an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages and detainees on both sides, the implementation of United Nations resolutions, and the establishment of humanitarian aid mechanisms to facilitate the Palestinian National Authority’s exercise of its duties in all of the Palestinian territories.
