A group of young people from Africa has been attending training sessions at the Luban Workshop in China’s Tianjin Municipality. During the training program, African youths would be oriented in Chinese technology and experience in woodcraft. The high-end technologies and practical education make the workshop different from other programmes.

Participants of the workshop feel that the orientation would enable them to acquire the vital vocational skills for realising their dreams so as to pursue their vocations in their home countries. Subjects including robotics are taught at the workshop. The use of robotics and sensors are common in woodcraft like in any other manufacturing sector in China. These skills will enable the trainees to use these technologies in many sectors back home in their own countries.
