Chad has a history of rulers holding the sway for longer innings. Former leader, Idriss Deby Itno, the father of the present interim president, ruled the country for three decades. The National Election Management Authority (ANGE) has come out with several restrictions during the election. It has banned anyone from filming or taking photos of the results, or from publishing them on social media or any other radio or television platform. However, many feel that it is high-handedness. The law does not prohibit them from photographing the results.
They accuse ANGE of preparing to commit election fraud in favour of the interim president, Mahamat Idriss Deby. He is a candidate of the MPS party. Some people oppose this view and vouch that ANGE will take adequate steps to conduct free and fair elections. People are preparing for the final campaign rallies, which are shaping up to be very hot indeed.
