Amidst rising tensions between pro-Russian and pro-French factions within the government in Bangui, the Prime minister of the Central African Republic has been sacked.

Henri-Marie Dondra took over as prime minister in June 2021. Dondra was reportedly “fired” and replaced by his economy minister, Felix Moloua. Tensions with France, the country’s former colonial ruler, have been simmering and Paris froze budgetary aid to Bangui. France alleged CAR of “complicity” against Russian “disinformation” campaign against France. The change of guard took place when CAR President Faustin-Archange Touadera was attending the Africa Union Summit in Addis Ababa. Moloua, is a Touadera loyalist and a technocrat.
