Compagnie des Bananes de Mondoni (CDBM), the second Cameroonian subsidiary of France’s Compagnie fruitière de Marseille, exported 5,944 tons of bananas in the first four months of 2025. This rapid growth, achieved less than two years after entering the market in June 2023, has propelled CDBM to third place among Cameroonian banana exporters, surpassing long-established Boh Plantations PLC, which exported 3,947 tons over the same period.
According to the Banana Association of Cameroon (Assobacam), CDBM has consistently held a top-three spot since early 2024, helping its parent company solidify its grip on the national banana market. Compagnie fruitière de Marseille now controls 70–80% of Cameroon’s annual banana exports through its subsidiaries PHP and CDBM, and provides technical support to other players like CDC and Boh.
This dominance also allows the French group to capture the lion’s share of tax savings under the EU-Cameroon Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs). At the 2023 inaugural EPA Prize, PHP was named the top beneficiary in customs duty exemptions for exports to the EU, with the sector saving CFAF 89 billion from 2016 to 2021.
