Cassava Technologies, a leading pan-African technology group, has announced that it has received a significant strategic investment from STANLIB Infrastructure Investments. The funding will accelerate the growth of Africa Data Centres (ADC), a subsidiary of Cassava Technologies, particularly focusing on expanding its infrastructure footprint in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

This partnership aims to drive the development of next-generation, AI-ready data centre facilities that will strengthen South Africa’s position as a key player in the continent’s rapidly evolving digital economy. The additional capital will allow ADC to meet the surging demand for cloud computing, data storage, and secure digital connectivity from both multinational corporations and local enterprises.

Commenting on the investment, Hardy Pemhiwa, President and Group CEO of Cassava Technologies, emphasized that the partnership with STANLIB is a strong vote of confidence in the company’s operations and strategic vision for South Africa.

“Collaborating with STANLIB reinforces the strength of our South African operations and validates the solid foundation we’ve built over the years,” said Pemhiwa. “This partnership provides us with the scale and capacity needed to serve large hyperscalers and enterprise clients as they expand their need for reliable, high-performance cloud and connectivity solutions across the region.”

Echoing this sentiment, Andy Louw, Co-Head of STANLIB Infrastructure Investments, highlighted the importance of data centres as the backbone of a thriving digital economy. “We are delighted to partner with Africa Data Centres, a key driver of Africa’s digital transformation,” said Louw. “Data centres are essential components of modern infrastructure, and our investment will reinforce South Africa’s digital backbone. It reflects our commitment to fostering economic growth by deploying capital that not only delivers returns for institutional investors but also strengthens the country’s position in the digital ecosystem.”
