Cassava Technologies and Accenture Partner to Scale Sovereign AI Across Africa

(3 Minutes Read)

Cassava Technologies has formed a strategic alliance with Accenture to accelerate the development and deployment of sovereign AI capabilities across Africa. The collaboration will launch in South Africa and extend to key markets including Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, and Nigeria.

This initiative combines Accenture’s AI Refinery platform and expertise in sovereign cloud infrastructure with Cassava’s GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS), underpinned by NVIDIA’s AI technology and hosted in Cassava’s secure, energy-efficient data centres. The goal is to empower African organisations to process AI workloads locally—within national borders—ensuring compliance with regional data governance and regulatory frameworks.

Cassava will harness its continent-wide, ultra-low-latency fibre broadband network to connect its data centres and deliver high-performance AI computing at scale. “AI presents transformative opportunities for innovation, competitiveness, and growth across Africa,” said Mauro Macchi, Accenture’s CEO for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. “Leveraging our expertise in sovereign AI and cloud technologies, we’re partnering with Cassava to build secure, scalable AI solutions tailored to Africa’s needs. Together, we aim to help businesses embrace AI confidently and unlock new value.”

Ahmed El Beheiry, CEO of Cassava AI, added: “Our GPUaaS offering enables flexible access to AI compute power, driving Africa’s AI revolution. This isn’t just about technology—it’s about inclusion and nation-building. Partnering with Accenture strengthens our ability to implement responsible AI, align with governance standards, and deliver locally relevant solutions.”
