Carrefour Kenya launched a new store in Kwale County, taking the total number of outlets of the retail major to eleven in the East African country. The new store at the Centrepoint Mall in Diani is the retailer’s second outfit outside Nairobi. It is planning to set up two more retail shops in the coastal region.
Carrefour has resumed operations at the outlet that was vacated by former retail giant Nakumatt, another retail company in 2017. This outlet outside Nairobi will have a larger customer base, company officials point out.
According to company sources, the new outlet, having an area of 1,000 sq meter will employ more than 130 people drawn from the local areas. It will be expanded to 1,800square metres in the final phase. Upon completion, the outlet will display 20,000 assorted goods including fresh fruits and vegetable section, a butchery counter as well as a home-made bakery section.
