Car Sales in Egypt Vault by 83%: Chevrolet Leads the Pack

This increase was driven by strong growth in passenger car sales, which rose by 79%, along with a 54.4% rise in bus sales and a remarkable 121.8% increase in truck sales

Car sales in Egypt jumped by 83.02% year-on-year during the first seven months of 2025, reaching 90,100 vehicles compared to 49,230 in the same period last year, according to data from the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC).

This increase was driven by strong growth in passenger car sales, which rose by 79%, along with a 54.4% rise in bus sales and a remarkable 121.8% increase in truck sales. In total, passenger car sales reached 69,790 units, bus sales stood at 5,560 units, and truck sales amounted to 14,750 units. In July 2025 alone, sales climbed by 36.9%, with 15,600 vehicles sold compared to 11,400 in July 2024.

Chevrolet maintained its position as the market leader, accounting for 17.9% of total sales, followed by Nissan with 14.6% and Chery with 11%. These figures include sales of passenger cars, buses, and trucks combined.

Looking specifically at passenger cars, Chinese brands dominated the market, followed by Japanese and then Korean vehicles. Sales of Chinese passenger cars rose 93.8% year-on-year to 25,500 units, compared to 13,160 in the same period last year. Japanese car sales increased by 27.2% to 17,960 units, up from 14,100 a year earlier.

European brands posted the most striking growth after the Americans, with sales soaring 203.3% to 10,150 units, compared to 3,300 in the same period last year. Korean cars also performed strongly, with sales rising 52.5% to 12,130 units, up from 7,950 last year.

 American passenger car sales recorded the fastest growth rate, skyrocketing by 817.6% in the first seven months of 2025. Sales reached 3,700 units, compared to just 404 units during the same period in 2024.
