As the incumbent Central African Republic President Faustin Archange Touadera is re-elected in the tense December 27 vote, there are developments that are taking place in the continent and elsewhere in the world regarding the outcome of the poll.
As reported by www.trendsnafrica.com earlier, the incumbent Faustin Archangel Tuatara won the elections in the first round itself by bagging 53.95 percent of the votes. The other main contestants have received only a far below share of votes. The distant second contestant, Anicet Goerge Dologuele got only 21 percent and Martin Ziguele 7 percent.
After the results were out, Dologuele accused the winning team of manipulating the election results and called the outcome a farce
vitiated by fraudulent methods. Earlier, he called for cancelling the vote since rebels closed some polling stations.
Faustin Archangel Tuadera’s winning streak has to be validated by the Constitutional Court after hearing the disputes from the concerned parties. The international community called on people to maintain calm while making a statement that they were keenly watching the situation. Social media has gone viral with many hate speeches.
The United Nations and its partners urged the people to respect the final results after its scrutiny by the Constitutional Court. The
coming days will decide the future course of action in the Central African Republic. In the meantime, the international community is
getting wary about the violence and animosity generated in various countries in Africa and feel that it is one of the huge challenges of the countries to build confidence in the democratic institutions.
