Biya’s disappearance from Cameroon triggered widespread speculation he was ill. Authorities, however, have published statements insisting that he is well, and have insisted that it was a matter of national security.
Cameroonian President Paul Biya is back home after a long absence from the country presumably for medical attention. Although the 91-year-old President, the speculations about his health condition continue. On his arrival from Geneva with his wife Chantal Biya, Biya did not speak to the public, although he did wave at supporters gathered nearby as his car drove away from the airport in the Cameroonian capital Yaounde.
Thousands of supporters of the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement cheered him while his entourage passed through from the airport to the presidential palace.
