Botswana and China reinforced their bilateral relationship with the signing of an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement. The agreement was signed by Botswana’s Vice President and Minister of Finance, Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, and Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, His Excellency Fan Yong.
During the signing ceremony, Vice President Gaolathe emphasised that since 2018, Botswana has received over P1.1 billion in grants from China. He mentioned that several projects, including the Legolo road in Gaborone and the Mmopane-Block 8 road, have been proposed for funding under these grants, with Letters of Exchange already signed, indicating progress in infrastructure development.
Ambassador Fan Yong reiterated China’s dedication to supporting Botswana across various sectors, expressing China’s willingness to share its development experiences to further enhance the partnership. He assured that China will continue to provide necessary assistance to foster economic growth and technical progress in Botswana.
