Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema and his Malawian counterpart Lazarus Chakwera threw open the Mwami/Mchinji one-stop border post, which is lying in the Mambwe district in Eastern Province.
The one-stop border post is aimed at enhancing Zambia’s trade with neighbouring Malawi. It will also facilitate the efficient processing of the movement of goods, people, and general trade transactions. The construction of the Mwami-Mchinji one-stop border post project was financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB).
President Hakainde and President Lazarus together commissioned the Mchinji-Mwami One-Stop Border Post. They described the border post as an important milestone in the development of Zambia and Malawi. President HICHILEMA has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to quickly meet with their Malawian counterpart to come up with solutions to the many roadblocks that affect the quick movement of traffic from the border.
