Beira contributes to regional integration, allowing hinterland countries access to various regional and international markets thanks to its excellent physical distribution and strategic location.

Sofala province capital city of Beira hosted a logistics and trade conference, aimed at exploring the business potential and investment opportunities in the central region of Mozambique and the hinterland countries.

During the event, which is part of the celebrations of Standard Bank’s 130th anniversary, the strategic role of the city of Beira as a logistics hub was highlighted. The city is home to the country’s second-largest port and second-largest industrial park.

Standard Bank, the event’s organizer, has distinguished itself as one of the main financiers and promoters of growth in the logistics and trade sectors, including other cross-cutting areas that play a significant role in the implementation of various projects.

The conference was attended by key players in the trade and logistics sector in Beira and the rest of the country.  They discussed the investment potential, innovation in the sector, as well as strategies to empower local businesses and entrepreneurs.

Standard Bank was represented at the event by its Chair of the Board of Directors, Esselina Macome, Managing Director, Bernardo Aparício, as well as senior managers. The theme of the conference was: “The Development Corridor: Investment Opportunities in Beira” and “Establishing a Resilient Value Chain”.
