Seychelles has been removed from the list of countries whose residents are not allowed to enter Australia because of concerns over the COVID-19 Omicron variant. Not a single case of variant of Covid-19 has been reported from the island country.
Confirmation to this effect has come from the office of the Prime Minister of Australia on 29th November. The Omicron variant, was first detected in South Africa. Later, it was detected in many other countries including Australia. Seychelles welcomed the decision by the Australian government and expressed the hope that the new scare would not affect its tourism and hospitality sector. The island nation’s health department said that it has strong health measures in place for all arriving passengers required to provide proof of a negative PCR test result taken 72 hours or less prior to departure from their country.
The government is taking steps to ensure that passengers would only stay in establishments that have developed safety protocols for their operational staff and guests and are certified-COVID safe by the Ministry of Health. Also, People must wear face masks at all times when in public places, ensure social distancing and avoid congregating in groups.
