An early warning platform to prevent conflicts and promote peace in Africa was launched by the AU on July 16th on the sidelines of the 41st Ordinary Session of the Executive Council.

The AU Deputy Chairperson Monique Nsanzabaganwa revealed that the role of the Inter-Regional Knowledge Exchange on Early Warning and Conflict Prevention (I-RECKE) is to detect and communicate threats to peace. It is hoped that the I-RECKE platform will build resilience and stability on the continent and enhance information sharing among member countries, Nsanzabaganwa urged the member countries to invest in their own early warning systems.

Bankole Adeoye, AU commissioner for political affairs, peace, and security, said the platform will be equipped with the latest technologies to identify threats to peace and stability.
