An African Development Bank delegation led by Abdul Kamara, Deputy Director General of the East Africa Region, took part in a validation workshop for the African Union’s (AU) second Biennial Continental Report on Agenda 2063. The workshop was held from 20 September to 6 October in the Zimbabwean capital Harare.
The aim of this meeting was to monitor, examine and consolidate national reports on Agenda 2063 for preparation and finalization of the report. The report will be presented to Member States at the next AU summit to be held in February 2022.
The Bank has set up a Joint Secretariat Support Office, in its capacity as a member of the joint technical working group for the monitoring and evaluation of Agenda 2063. The Joint Secretariat Support Office comprises the AU Commission, UN Economic Commission for Africa and the African Development Bank.
The group is responsible for monitoring and evaluation, scrutiny and reporting on progress made in the implementation of Agenda 2063.The African Development Bank also provides capacity-building support for Member States and regional economic communities. These support systems are designed to create reliable, high-quality benchmarks and dashboards on the implementation of the flagship programmes of Agenda 2063.
