Apps to detect fake news on Covid-19: SA has the least number of fake news after Singapore

·        South Africa is ranked the second country for putting out
reliable news after Singapore.

·        According to Covid-19 Infodemics Observatory, which analyzed
100 million public messages, it had deployed an algorithm to
differentiate between real and fake news.

For people who are spreading fake news, Covid-19 provides a field day.
That also has enabled certain organizations to track the quantum of
fake news in currency and rank  the countries in terms of reliability
of news that they put into the public domain. South Africa is ranked
the second country for putting out reliable news after Singapore.

According to Covid-19 Infodemics Observatory, which analyzed 100
million public messages,it  had deployed an algorithm to differentiate
between real and fake news. Through its complex analytics on various
databases undertaken by risk analysts, the two countries, Singapore
and South Africa were selected as first and second in terms of the
reliability of the news.

Only the other day, China had revised upwards the number of people
killed in Wuhan on account of the pandemics, saying that it had erred
in estimating the number of casualties. This had considerably eroded
the transparency of data coming out of China. Experts earlier also
cast doubts on the reliability of reported data from China both in
terms of infections and deaths.
