Tanzania has launched a new initiative aimed at motivating its citizens, particularly the youth, to take initiative, embrace innovation, and make use of digital tools to achieve their aspirations. With young people aged 15 to 35 making up over 34.5% of the population, as per the 2022 National Census, the campaign seeks to inspire those who may feel constrained by limited opportunities or resources.

Yas CEO, Pierre Canton-Bacara, introduced the campaign, titled ‘Anzia Ulipo’ (Start Where You Are), which encourages individuals to begin working towards their goals using the resources currently available to them, rather than waiting for perfect conditions.

The campaign highlights real-life success stories and builds on Yas’s strong 4G and 5G networks to promote digital inclusion, stimulate innovation, and help citizens realise their potential, contributing to national development.

Canton-Bacara noted that Yas has heavily invested in digital infrastructure across mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. This network supports key sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, e-commerce, and entrepreneurship—empowering a teacher in Mtwara to teach online, a farmer in Mbeya to monitor market trends, and a business owner in Arusha to reach global customers.
