(3 Minutes Read)

Angola Cables, a global connectivity leader, is advancing Africa’s digital transformation by expanding its services to Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The initiative aims to enhance Internet access in underserved regions, aligning with the continent’s rapid digital economy growth.

Sudhir Juggernath, CEO of TelCables Southern and East Africa—a subsidiary of Angola Cables— emphasised the critical need for dependable digital infrastructure in Africa, where limited Internet access and affordability remain significant challenges. Instead of acquisitions, Angola Cables will establish partnerships with local carriers and stakeholders to provide high-quality Internet services.

Regulatory hurdles and insufficient digital infrastructure were key topics to be addressed. Juggernath stressed the importance of simplifying fibre deployment processes to accelerate connectivity efforts. Regulators need to streamline the process. Fibre is now a necessity for economic growth. It’s about making it easier to lay fibre and set up WiFi terminals or towers, he remarked, adding that regulatory cooperation is essential to closing Africa’s digital gap.
