Amr Mohamed Mahfouz Hussein is the CEO of Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). He was appointed by the Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly for a one year term. Earlier to this, he was the Acting CEO and the Assistant ICT Minister for Growth and Development.
Amr has over 33 years experience in business development and different technology domains. He has a veritable track record of implementing different technology platforms and verticals, such as digital transformation, business consulting, talent management, systems integration, capacity building and global operations in emerging markets.
Amr joined ITIDA only in July 2020. Earlier to that he worked for IBM for over 33 years. His main portfolios in IBM included establishing strong digital business relationships such as go-to-market strategies, and empowering enterprises to adapt to the digital era. He is also credited with the implementation of several large-scale projects across different domains like telecoms, government and banking and served as IBM’s Communications Sector Leader for the MEA region operating from Dubai and Managing Partner, Global Business Services Country Leader at IBM in Saudi Arabia.
Amr holds a B.Sc. in Engineering from Cairo University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands.
