AMEA Power LLC and Ivory Coast government sign concession agreement and power purchase agreement

  • AMEA Power LLC, Dubai-based renewables company has announced the signing of a concession agreement and a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Ivory Coast government.

 

AMEA Power LLC, Dubai-based renewables company has announced the signing of a concession agreement and a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Ivory Coast government. The agreement will lead to the setting up of a 50-MW solar PV project in the city of Bondoukou in the north-eastern region of Gontougo of Ivory Coast, the country’s first project as an independent power producer (IPP) scheme.

The total investment for the build-own-operate and transfer model project by AMEA is  estimated at around USD 60 million (EUR 55.3m).

The power plant when it becomes operational is expected to produce more than 85 GWh per year, enough to meet the consumption needs of around 350,000 people.

AMEA Power has been expanding its footprint in the West Africa region. Recently, the company announced its decision to expand its operations in Togo. A 50-MW solar farm in Togo with the addition of 20 MW of solar panels and a battery storage unit has been set up. The company is also developing solar projects in Burkina Faso and Mali.
