(3 Minutes Read)

As Algeria accelerates its drive to diversify its economy and strengthen its industrial foundations, a new strategic partner is emerging on the global stage—South Korea.

The Algerian-Korean Economic Forum, held in Algiers under the theme “Korea-Algeria Global Manufacturing Partnership,” marked a significant milestone in the deepening of bilateral economic relations. The event was jointly organized by the Embassy of South Korea and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), in collaboration with the Algerian Agency for the Promotion of Investment (AAPI) and the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI).

During the forum, participants explored a range of strategic cooperation opportunities, focusing on sectors with strong growth potential such as electronics, automotive manufacturing, renewable energy, and industrial equipment production. Algeria, aiming to move away from its heavy reliance on hydrocarbons, expressed its ambition to draw lessons from South Korea’s rapid industrialization model, seeking to build a competitive, export-driven industrial base that can reduce dependency on imports and create sustainable jobs.

The event also served as a platform for Algeria to showcase the economic and regulatory reforms it has recently implemented to attract foreign investment. These reforms focus on improving the business climate, emphasizing greater transparency, streamlined administrative procedures, and equal treatment for both domestic and international investors.
