Airbus, the largest aircraft manufacturer, has decorated Ethiopian Airlines for the unique agility and resilience that it displayed and
services rendered amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Close to 17 ,000 Ethiopian employees and management team worked hard during the Covid-19 days to render various types of services to affected people and countries.
While other airlines were just trying to figure out what to do during the Covid-19 days, Ethiopia Airlines had conveniently converted their passenger aircraft to freighters. They were the first one to do so and that way created new businesses to carry out their operations as usual while other airlines grounded their fleet and some of the airlines went bankrupt.
The airline converted A350 passenger aircraft to cargo to transport the medical supplies to various countries in the region to combat the spread of COVID-19. The Airline is now operating 16 A350 aircraft in its network between various destinations within Africa and beyond. Significantly, it now gears up 21 aircrafts to carry Covid-19 vaccines to different destinations.
