Mali’s transitional government headed by former defense minister Bah Ndaw has been given 18 months to hold fresh elections and hand over power to a civilian government. Beset with a troubled economy, militant insurgency and a pandemic, the sanctions have made the toll on the fragile West African country. The country has to depend on critical imports to feed the people.
