Presidents from Africa have confirmed their availability to travel to Ukraine and Russia in mid-June to hold discussions with leaders of both countries to end the war.
During a press conference, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa explained the details of the meeting, which he had with heads of state from Zambia, Senegal, the Republic of Congo, Uganda, and Egypt on the proposed delegation of leaders to Russia and Ukraine. Importantly, the Presidents confirmed their availability to travel to Ukraine and Russia in mid-June to hold discussions with leaders of both countries to end the war.
Ramaphosa said that African leaders wanted to listen to the views of both Russia and Ukraine and to find a solution to the vexing problem, which is causing considerable hardships to people across the world, particularly in Africa.
Earlier, Ramaphosa did not give a specific timeline for the visit or other details, saying only that the conflict had been devastating and Africa “is also suffering a great deal from it. African countries have been badly hit by rising prices of grain and by the impact on world trade.
