Africa Data Centres (ADC) continues its expansion in West Africa with the construction of a new data center in Accra, Ghana. The move aims to bolster ADC’s footprint in the region where it already operates facilities in Nigeria and Togo.

ADC, a leading builder and operator of data centers, unveiled a partnership agreement yesterday with Onix Data Centres to solidify its presence in West Africa. The collaboration focuses on key markets such as Ghana, aiming to enhance reach, expertise, and unified customer experience. This initiative aligns with ADC’s broader strategy to expand across Africa amid a rapidly accelerating digital transformation on the continent. In September 2021, the company earmarked a USD 500 million investment over two years to establish data centers in around ten African countries.

Beyond its operations in South Africa and Kenya, ADC currently manages data centers in Lagos, Nigeria, and Togo in West Africa. In addition to the new Accra facility, scheduled to have a maximum capacity of 30 MW, ADC is actively developing other installations across the continent. The partnership with Onix is strategic as Onix Data Centres already operates two facilities in West Africa. Onix Accra 1, launched in August 2017 in the Ghanaian capital with a capacity of 20 MW, and another in Dakar, Senegal, inaugurated in February 2023. Africa Data Centres’ expansion underscores its commitment to meeting the growing demand for secure and reliable data infrastructure across Africa’s burgeoning digital landscape.
