· To ensure water security in the continent, the African Development Bank has approved a new water policy to ensure water security in the continent. This was approved by AfDB’s Board of Directors recently.
· The new policy would prioritize the transformation of water assets for Africans to foster sustainable, green and inclusive economic growth in member countries
· The AfDB agenda also would include provision for seamless flow of water from one country to the other country and regions
To ensure water security in the continent, the African Development Bank has approved a new water policy to ensure water security in the continent. This was approved by AfDB’s Board of Directors recently. The new policy would prioritize the transformation of water assets for Africans to foster sustainable, green and inclusive economic growth in member countries.
The policy is tailored to ensure a platform of water security to the continent and to harness and sustain water resources. The new water policy would be anchored for attaining water security at households, national and regional levels. The second important aim would be ensuring equitable water supply to all since it is essential for health, environment and empowerment.
The AfDB agenda also would include provision for seamless flow of water from one country to the other country and regions. Since 2010, AfDB has invested US$ 6.2 billion for better water supply and sanitation.
