Access to electricity is not just about power – it’s about creating jobs, improving healthcare, and fostering education. Mission 300 represents a bold step towards lighting up and powering Africa, Dr Adesina said.

According to recent statistics, nearly 600 million Africans, representing half of the continent’s population, do not have access to electricity. This staggering figure accounts for 83 per cent of the global electricity access deficit.

To address this challenge, the World Bank Group, African Development Bank Group (AfDB), and other partners have launched Mission 300, an ambitious initiative. The initiative aims to provide electricity access to 300 million people across the continent by 2030, through increased infrastructure investments and sweeping policy reforms.
