The Concession Agreement for the construction of the Accra Sky Train Project was signed on the side-lines of the African Investment Forum.The agreement covers feasibility studies, assessing the bankability of the project etc. The first station for the Accra Sky Train project is expected to be opened in nine months.
At the signing ceremony, President Akufo-Addo described the signing of the concession agreement as a “critical step towards the consummation of the project “and thanked the Sky Train Consortium and the African Investment Forum for taking the project forward. He hoped that the people of Ghana benefit from the progress and the relief that a modern system of transport will bring to their lives. The Accra Sky Train, he said, “is meeting an important infrastructural need.
The proposed Accra SkyTrain  project covering a total track length across all routes of 194 kilometres provides for the development of five routes. Four of them will originate at the proposed SkyTrain Terminal, from Kwame Nkrumah Circle at the heart of Accra. one route that provides intra-city commuter loop distribution service, also will emanate from Kwame Nkrumah Circle. SkyTrain systems are pre-fabricated using precision moulded, pre-stressed reinforced concrete components that can be installed fast, with minimal disruption and congestion in the urban area which undertakes installation and commissioning.
