Netherlands has become Ethiopia’s top export destination, according to the Ethiopia’s Ministry of Trade during the 2019-20 that ended on July 7. Ethiopia has exported over US$322 million worth of commodities to the Netherlands. The Netherlands is also the largest investor in the East African country.
Items that are exported include flower, coffee, fruits and vegetables, juice, apparel, shoes, leather, honey, khatt, alcoholic beverages, electronics, bee wax, and cereals. The Netherlands has invested in 150 projects in the host country to become the largest investor.
The other (second) export destination of Ethiopia is the United States, with US $295.8 million worth of exports during the financial year ended on July7. Exported good to the US included apparel, coffee, flower leather products, flour, chemical and construction materials, minerals such as gold, oilseeds, and alcoholic beverage worth of US$295 million
Over $298.2 million worth of commodities were also exported to neighboring Somalia, becoming the third-largest importer of Ethiopian products, followed by Saudi Arabia and Germany, during the recently concluded fiscal year,
