Volume of trade between Egypt and Indonesia recorded a positive trend over the past five years, growing between US$1.2 and  US$1.5 billion annually, according to the Ambassador of Indonesia in Cairo Helmy Fawzy. Egypt is one of the main business partners of Indonesia and is the main  gateway for the Southeastern country to enter Africa.

This point was stressed at the meeting between the Head of the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce in Alexandria and the Head of the Federation of Mediterranean Chambers “ESCAMI”, Ahmed Al-Wakeel, with the ambassador and the accompanying delegation of members of the diplomatic mission at the Embassy of Indonesia in Cairo.

Indonesia’s main exports to Egypt are palm oil and its derivatives, dairy, tires, rubber, synthetic yarns, paper, vegetable fats, plywood, handicraft products and spices.  Indonesia’s main imports from Egypt are phosphates, and agricultural products like fruits,  olive oil products, and dates. Chemical fertilizers are also imported in large quantities.   In May 2019: Egypt and Indonesia signed an agreement for activating bilateral trade exchange under the umbrella of Egypt-Indonesia Business Council.
