The Federal Government of Nigeria appointed Captain Hamisu Rabiu Yadudu as the new Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Capt. Yadudu, took over from Engr. Saleh Dunoma as MD. He was Authority’s Director of Airport Operations prior to this appointment. A known aviation expert and an accredited International Airport professional, Capt. Yadudu holds professional certifications in Avionics, Airport Safety Management Systems, Airport Security Management, Air Transport Systems Management: to name a few. It is expected that Captain Yadudu will take some positive decisions to develop the fragile aviation industry in Nigeria. Earlier, Nigeria wanted to develop strong national airlines by acquiring more aircraft. However, the plans were pushed to the back burner. Ethiopian Airlines is the largest operating airlines in Africa. Rwanda is also focused on developing a strong airline company and has been lately intending to add to newer destinations within Africa and beyond. With the induction of Captain Yadudu, many believe that Nigeria’s aviation sector would get the much needed fillip.
