ELCA, the Swiss IT conglomerate, is expanding its footprint in Mauritius. ELCA opened its second office recently in the Island nation. The first office was set up in 2018. The Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation Darsanand Balgobin was present at the inaugural function of the new office along with CEO of ELCA Cédric Moret (through videoconference), and Mr. Olivier Hecq ,Manager of ELCA centre in Mauritius.

ELCA is an offshore IT company and employs 120 people who work on IT application, development and maintenance projects for ELCA customers in Switzerland.

The Minister in his address stressed that the presence of ELCA in Mauritius was a testimony how international companies are getting attracted by Mauritius. He assured that the country would create an ecosystem to continuously attract such large and world class companies. He called upon the young professionals of the country to give their best as employers of the company, which could motivate several other large corporations to set up their back offices, creating more employment.

Cédric Moret underlined that Mauritius was a strategic partner of his company, and complements the company’s existing centres in Vietnam and Spain. The ‘Health & Go’ certificate developed by ELCA is based on block chain and artificial intelligence. This can be of considerable relevance to Mauritius. This technology, among other things, would allow the home country to track whether tourists coming to the island are immunized, or any other details that the authorities would like to scrutinize that the tourists should comply with.

ELCA operates in all major verticals like health, transport and logistics, public administration, financial services, manufacturing, defense and civil security, energy, sports and events. The company employs 1,400 people in Switzerland, Spain, Vietnam and Mauritius.
