French –Mauritius economic ties are strong and growing –French Ambassador

Mauritius would remain an important partner for France in the Indian Ocean region and in dealing with issues of the island nation in the health sector, the fight against climate change, and safeguarding the environment and biodiversity’, according to outgoing Ambassador of France to Mauritius Emmanuel Cohet. He stated this at his farewell call to the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth recently.

Mr Cohet said that he discussed with the prime minister wide ranging issues including economy, ways in which France could provide support to Mauritius in the current post-Covid-19 period, how the two countries can enhance their collaboration, and regional cooperation between Mauritius, Reunion Island and Mayotte.

France and Mauritius are active partners within the Indian Ocean Commission and the two countries intend to enhance their joint work for the development of the region. Cohet flagged numerous projects that have been undertaken between France and Mauritius during the past three years and said that more projects would be underway cementing the economic ties between the two countries.
