The names of the sponsors of the Horizon Paris 2024 Project of Mauritius, were revealed recently during a signing ceremony held at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex in the presence of Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation Stephan Toussaint and other high officials. So far, only names of three sponsors have been announced and the rest of the names will be revealed later. These are RM Club Mauritius, a Premium Multisport Center which proposes, amongst others, foot indoor, padle, and squash sports activities; Necker Gestion Privée, a management company regulated by the Financial Services Commission since 2014 and MuscleTech, an American-based company which specializes in nutrition supplement.
Horizon Paris 2024 aims is to identify potential athletes for their participation in the 2024 Olympic Games scheduled from 26 July to 11 August in Paris, France. It is a preparation programme being conducted by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, in collaboration with the Trust Fund for Excellence in Sports (TFES).
Speaking on the occasion Toussaint emphasized the difficult economic situation mainly due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has also affected the progress of the project. He underscored the need for a concerted program from the public and private sector to provide support to Mauritian athletes in terms of sponsorship to better help train them to well in the Olympics.
The Horizon Paris 2024 presented a new strategy and the way forward for individuals to provide support to the athletes in the form of a donation of Rs 1 000 per year and Rs 10 000 for enterprises to become a partner and sponsor. The project will provide support to the tune of Rs 1 million per athlete per year, for transport, accommodation and other preparatory needs to potential athletes.
