Mozambique Dungongo Cimentos is owned by the Mozambican business group SPI and the China West Cement Company Limited. The new Dugongo unit will be its third.

Dugongo Cimentos is to invest around USD 35 million (€29.8 million) in a third cement factory in Mozambique, located in Ancuabe district, Cabo Delgado province, the company has announced.

The coordinator of the new plant construction project, Anselmo Amurane, during the first extraordinary session of the Provincial Executive Council of Cabo Delgado, explained the details of the investment plan.  Without revealing the start date of the works, Amurane explained that the construction project will last 17 months. He further added that the Ancuabe plant will employ around 900 workers during the construction phase and about 135 thereafter.

According to the source from the Chinese-owned cement company, the project also aims to employ young people from Nampula province and to pass on technical knowledge, “something that is already happening in Maputo and Nacala”, where the group’s two plants are located.
