The Moroccan and Ivorian exporters’ associations, Asmex and Apex-CI, have decided to join hands and set up an African external trade association. A partnership deal was signed by the two associations on May 25, on the African Day according to local media.The objective of the African External trade association is to support and facilitate African business to tap existing opportunities in Africa for a harmonious development.
Morocco returned to the fold of AU in January 2017. Under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, Morocco has strived to strengthen its partnership with African countries. It also upholds the promotion of south-south cooperation to boost trade and economic growth of the continent.
The primary goal of the Moroccan Association of Exporters (Asmex) is to create spaces for exchange and partnership aimed at developing and strengthening trade and partnership between Moroccan economic operators and their African counterparts.
The signing of the partnership agreement on the side-lines of the World Africa Day underlines the significance of co-operation within Africa particularly in the backdrop of a global upheaval caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The unprecedented economic crisis triggered by the Pandemic is expected to shake up the existing world economic order.
