Hertz car Rental in southern Africa says its operations  will not  be
affected after Hertz in the US filed for bankruptcy protection. The US
operations of the car rental firm  moved for bankruptcy  protection
due to  the economic impact caused due to travel restrictions. The
bankruptcy proceedings have affected its European operations.

However, the group’s southern Africa office said  it would continue to
operate in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana as it  was run
independently and is a  part of CFAO Motors. The local car rental
companies had taken a beating in the aftermath of the pandemic due to
lockdown in most of the countries.

Pandemic has greatly disrupted services sectors like travel, tourism,
hospitality etc. Rental companies mostly depend on these segments for
their survival.  Besides, non operation of flights also added to the
rental companies’ woes. It is still not known when the normalcy will
be restored in these sectors.
