Ethiopia’s iodized salt processing factory operational

·        An iodized salt processing plant- Soda King Factory- has
become operational in Dire Dawa Industry Zone, Ethiopia.

·        Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said his government is
committed to bringing ongoing projects to completion, while addressing
a separate meeting.

An iodized salt processing plant- Soda King Factory- has become
operational in Dire Dawa Industry Zone, Ethiopia. This has a capital
investment of US$ 4.5 million. The factory  will have a production
target of 50 quintals of iodized salt per day. The plant now employs
120 workers.

Dire Dawa City is fast emerging as an industrial hub of  the Eastern
Ethiopia. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said his government is
committed to bringing ongoing projects to completion, while addressing
a separate meeting. He assured that the Covid-19 will not impact the
completion time of the ongoing projects and in a tweet underscored the
need for raising the productivity of various sectors, increasing
foreign currency reserves, as well as maintaining ongoing efforts for
debt cancellation and restructuring.

The Prime Minister chaired Ethiopia’s national macroeconomic
committee, which met  recently to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on
the economy, budgetary preparations for the next fiscal year and to
take stock of the various constraints being faced by the economy
against the backdrop of pandemic..
