Digital tools like Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFDs) and systems such as E-filing, Electronic Fiscal Data Management System (EFDMS), ITAX, and Tanzania Customs Integrated System (TANCIS) have brought considerable improvements to the country’s tax system.
Deputy Minister for Finance of Tanzania Hamad Hassan Chande informed Parliament recently that the implementation of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) systems in Tanzania’s tax administration has significantly reduced tax evasion and improved taxpayer discipline.
Chande said that the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has prioritized modern technology to enhance revenue collection, ensuring tax compliance is transparent and precise.
He said Digital tools like Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFDs) and systems such as E-filing, Electronic Fiscal Data Management System (EFDMS), ITAX, and Tanzania Customs Integrated System (TANCIS) have brought considerable improvements to the country’s tax system.
The deputy minister made this statement in response to a basic query from Special Seats MP Maida Hamadi Abdallah, who wanted to know the government’s government efforts to combat tax avoidance among businesses.Chande further said the use of ICT systems has strengthened accountability, and transparency, and increased the effectiveness of TRA in revenue collection.

The Deputy Minister said that the government is educating businesses on the importance of tax compliance and its role in national development.
