The Tanzanian government released a new tourism film this year titled “Amazing Tanzania.” It believes this will help increase the sector’s contribution to the economy, which currently stands at 17.2%. In Tanzania, approximately 1.5 million people work in the tourism sector, either directly or indirectly.

Tanzania is now one of Africa’s top-performing countries in tourism, with a 49% increase in tourist arrivals during the first seven months of 2024, according to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

The UN body’s latest report also shows that Africa as a whole saw a 7% increase in tourist arrivals compared to 2019. The government says it is now aiming for 5 million visitors by 2025 – mainly from China. Experts say the key is to promote all regions of the country. The government is making efforts to promote the Southern and Northern tourism circuits, which are all part of Tanzania.
