The Tanzania Institute of Education (TET) signed a cooperation agreement with Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU) in China to strengthen the teaching and learning of Science subjects. The collaboration will help establish a Science and Digital Education center and make TET a regional training center in science studies, stated TET Director General, Dr. Aneth Komba.
She has also identified various activities that will be carried out as a result of the contract, including strengthening the capacity of curriculum developers, talented teachers and instructors of science subjects through short courses. Strengthening the capacity of curriculum developers through long-term courses through postgraduate and doctoral training opportunities. Conducting knowledge exchange activities by conducting research. To collaborate in preparing teaching and learning materials such as textbooks, manuals, modules, and texts with electronic content.
She added that there will be academic visits to exchange academics from TET and ZJNU to share experience and knowledge in various educational areas, especially science and digital education. Another area is the presence of student visits, who want to do short programs and collaborate in organizing international educational meetings and conferences that will be held in China or Tanzania every year.
Dean of ZJNU College, Prof. Huang Xiao, has said that the partnership emphasizes their joint mission to develop education and promote innovation in digital education. And that they have a beneficial history of cooperation with educational institutions in Africa. She said that in the university they have been implementing a strategy of globalization and establishing deep communication with universities around the world, such as the University of Kansas in the United States and Queen’s University in the United Kingdom.

The collaboration will also improve the results of education and prepare students for the future, and that shows their belief in bringing about changes in education and determination to provide opportunities that are inclusive, consistent and forward-looking. It focuses on the two important areas of STEM and digital education, but also in other areas such as exchange and research capacity.
